Sleep Protocol, by a Self-Proclaimed Insomniac
As a former self-proclaimed insomniac, I’ve gone to bed the same day I woke up more times than I can count. Once I started naming and befriending the sheep I was counting, I knew I needed a new approach.
After years of trial and error, I finally landed on a few key methods, consistent routines, an app called Headspace, and a little thing I like to call Podcast University—a.k.a. The Huberman Lab Podcast. Together, they helped me create a wind-down practice that now lets my mind gently drift off within minutes.
And I’m telling you—falling asleep shortly after closing your eyes is 100% possible. I used to think it wasn’t, especially for me.
Turns out, it’s not just a possibility—it’s a damn good reality. If I can figure this out after two decades of being a full-time night owl—staying up with late-night phone calls, snacks, parties, doom-scrolling, overthinking, ceiling-staring, and holding full conversations with Sandra, the black woolen sheep—then you can too.
